Cahuita is a little village with a relaxed and casual atmosphere located 27 miles (43 km) south of Limón city, the main attraction of this destination is Cahuita National Park featuring a protected coral reef and a white sand beach. At Cahuita you can enjoy a variety of activities such as snorkeling, hiking, bird watching and visits to indigenous villages.

Approximately 50 percent of Limón Province’s residents are Afro-Caribbean, most of them of Jamaican descendant. English Creole and Spanish are spoken in the province. Limon has beaches with coconut-fringed coasts as well as mountainous areas and great protected areas such as Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge, Tortuguero National Park, Braulio Carrillo National Park, Cahuita National Park, Gandoca – Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge, La Amistad International Park and Kéköldi Indigenous Reserve. Cruise Passengers arrive to Puerto Limon located in Limon’s namesake capital city and just north from the city is Puerto Moin handling many of the country’s import and export traffic.

Tortuguero National Park is one of the most famous of Costa Rica´s National Parks. The scenery of the canals and the jungle that is around them is simply a must see. While travelling on the different canals a great variety of flora and fauna may be witness. Most visitors to Tortuguero take multiday tours that depart from different areas of Costa Rica, since no one can arrive by car. There are only two possibilities of transporting yourself to Tortuguero, either by boat or by the local small planes.
